We Are Here To Support Our Community This Christmas

The Salvation Army Kitchener Community Church & Family Care Centre is here to walk alongside parents and primary guardians to help ensure children have a gift under the tree this Christmas. If you have been struggling this year and do not have the ability to purchase Christmas gifts for your children, we want to partner with you. Please note that we provide gifts for the custodial parent only, due to the high volume of need. 


Registration for Christmas Toy Hampers is now closed. We have reached capacity for 2025. Thank you for your understanding.

Please read the following information to learn about eligibility and the process.

 


Eligibility & Requirements

Our Christmas Toy Hampers are available to those families living in Kitchener and Waterloo with children ages 0-15 who are experiencing financial hardship. We will be using the Low-Income Cut-Off (LICO) as our guidelines. If you do not normally fall within these guidelines but are in need of support this Christmas, we would ask that you make note of your financial situation/pending challenges in the appropriate spot on your application. Please note that due to the high volume of requests, gifts are provided only to the custodial parent.

Before starting this application, please have the following documents available to you:

  • Valid ID for yourself
  • Valid ID for other adults in your household
  • Valid ID for all children 0-15 that you are applying for.
  • Proof of Income for all adults in your household (e.g., most recent Notice of Assessment, Pay Stubs, Child Tax Benefit, ODSP, OW, etc.) 
  • You will need these documents in a PDF, JPEG, or PNG format. (Please note that all uploaded documents will be deleted once they have been reviewed.)


 

Application Process

Our application is done through a secure online application form. This form will open on November 3rd and will remain available until all appointment slots are full.  Applications will be reviewed by our team, and additional information may be requested. You will be contacted if this is necessary. 

*It is important to note that you may not apply for Christmas toy support through multiple organizations. This could result in your registration being cancelled.*

 


Toy Pick-Up Appointments 


Toy pick-up appointments will be scheduled during the application process. You’ll be able to choose a day and time that works best for you—please double-check your schedule before confirming, as appointments cannot be easily rescheduled once submitted.


Pick-up appointments begin December 4th.


When you arrive, please bring the following:


  • Your appointment confirmation email
  • Valid ID for yourself
  • Valid ID for each child registered for a Christmas Hamper


Important Notice:  If you do not bring all required items, your appointment will be canceled.
